Baking With Dr.Oetker | Part 2 Mug Cakes

Chocolate cake in only 1 mintue! Never have I heard anything sweeter. Mug cakes are obviously not a new thing but a mug cake mix is (well relatively!) and i for one am bloody excited about it. I enjoy baking cupcakes but sometimes you just fancy a bit of cake and you don't always want to bake 12 cupcakes, what a faff! Dr.Oetker have brought out a quick and easy cake mix that is ready in under 2 mintues (times vary on microwave settings).
It's literally the most convienent way to satisfy that sweet craving. I'm going to show you just how easy it is to make one of these at home yourself.

I went all out with my mug cake and not only did I use the Dr.Oetker Rich Chocolate sachet but I topped it with Dr.Oetker Easy Swirl Chocolate Cupcake Icing and Dr.Oetker Salted Caramel Crunch, a good choice if I do say so myself. You can make up any concoction you like though.

Doesn't that look yummy? To make the cake you just pour in the sachet and 4 tablespoons of milk into a (microwave) mug, give it a good stir round and pop into the microwave for the length of time it states on the back of the sachet, times will of course vary depending on what power microwave you have.

Each sachet contains enough mixture to fill a 250ml mug, I used my favourite (small) Cath Kidston mug and it was the perfect size. Now you could just eat the sponge cake on its own or you could make it a little more indulgent, a naughty treat. As I previously said I went for the easy swirl cupcake icing which was AMAZING if not slightly sickly haha. But you could make it into a pudding by just tipping the cooked cake into a bowl and adding some ice cream. I sprinkled a few salted caramel crunch on top of mine, i loved how salty and delicious they were - in fact i will probably end up eating them out the tub, oops.

Is that not the easiest cake you will ever make? You can buy these sachets at most supermarkets for around 80p each, totally inexpensive. They come in rich chocolate, chocolate chip and lemon flavour so there's one for everyone. I was lucky to be sent these PR samples to try but I will definitely be buying a couple more to keep in the cupboard for when a cake craving strikes. Genius or dangerous idea, you decide!

Which flavour would you like to try?

Until next time xo
